RBH Spreads-the-love (1st Donation done) 😇 🙏
Robinhooders, Today we are excited to be sharing the news of our ‘First Donation’ made to our partners — Socialgiver.
Here is a personal letter from the Socialgiver CEO and team to the entire RBH Community :)
Dear Robinhoodswap team,
The act of donating in the fast-paced world has become easier and more convenient than ever. In Thailand, we often see stories calling for help on social media that become viral and widely discussed within a short time. These viral posts have raised millions in donations, often only for one single person. With millions of people in Thailand suffering from this current COVID Crisis, other disasters, or misfortunes; a group of volunteers has set up this project to spread the love out to as many people as possible, to replace lottery-like, unverified online donations that lack transparency. Replacing that with an objective to spread the donations as far and wide as possible — because we believe that a small helping hand can make a difference in many lives. Ultimately, smaller support for a greater number of people is infinitely more effective than millions going to help only the stories that are fortunate enough to go viral.
During COVID, there are so many people in need who have gone overlooked or fallen through the cracks when it comes to traditional charity campaigns, government subsidies, and personal fundraising. Many have incredible stories of persistence, unfortunate circumstances, or heart-warming efforts to provide for themselves and their families. We want to help those in need and spread their stories to bring more awareness and humanity to donations.
Spread the love has been looking for nominations of individuals who could truly benefit from a small cash prize, to get them through these difficult times and provide basic necessities. We see an opportunity to enable more stories to be heard, direct relief to more individuals, and to “Spread the love” to as many recipients as possible. Therefore, the “Spread the Love” volunteer group has come up with this project that will provide a great solution to solve this problem to enhance donation capability and ensure that the help covers inclusively those most in need spreading the support evenly. Each recipient based on selected nominations by a panel of judges stands a chance to receive 1000–5000 baht per person. Our panel of judges is made up of volunteers, such as students learning social studies guided by their professor, professionals working in the social impact sector, and donors who have provided a generous donation for this project. Judges will change each month as new volunteers are invited, however, we wish to respect their privacy and their names will not be published.
This brand new project has so far supported 18 persons, with 10 more planned for this week. With the donation provided, every 1,000 baht would be able to support an additional person in need. We’ll be updating their stories on the Socialgiver Facebook fan page regularly.
We would like to thank Robinhoodswap for your generous donation. We’ll be deploying BUSD donations within this month, and to show our support for the community, we’re happy to HODL RBH tokens during July as we deploy the BUSD and would be more than happy to receive RBH donations in the following month when funds will be needed.
We would also love to extend our invitation to the Robinhoodswap community to play a part in identifying recipients of funds who have submitted their stories via Socialgiver’s Facebook post. You can simply click like in the story which you would like to support (please note that stories are submitted in Thai). We would like to thank the entire community again for your generous support.
